for Arizona Senator 2006"Restoring
a Conservative Senate"
The Issues
Sealing the border! Jack went out on a limb in 2003
to be the first in Arizona to author a bill to put the National Guard on the
Arizona/Mexico border. The Governor opposed
the bill but Jack worked for three years to pass this legislation. He proposed to use Arizona Army National Guard
solders as a deterent to terrorists and illegal aliens who want to sneak into our country. Jack has been credited by his peers for his efforts
to seal the border. You will not read this in
the press, but ask anyone who was in the legislature in 2003 and they will say, "It
was Jack's idea." Make the property tax cuts
permanent! With Jack's vote in the affirmative, the legislature
passed a two-year, income and property tax cut. Unfortunately,
the Governor only agreed to have the property tax cut for two years. It is time to make the Governor temporary and the
property tax cut permanent. Family Values We need to insure religious freedom for our citizens.
The right to worship as we believe has helped make this country great We need
to encourage patriotism of our children. We need to insure that our public schools
do not become a place where faith in God is oppressed and teachers are forced to teach
immorality as the norm. Jack passed legislation top protect our soldiers from
vile protesters who would burn the flag of the United States and claim that this
intimidation is free speech. Thanks to Jack's
efforts, flag burning is now illegal in ARS 13-1708. Efficient Spending in School We as a state need to make the most of our educational
dollars. We need to spend more of the money on education in the classroom and less
on administrative costs. Jack supported legislation to consolidate school
districts. There are over 227 districts in
this state, many of them with very few schools. Many of these districts need
to be consolidated. The majority of our educational money should be spent on
decreasing class size, teach pay raises, textbooks, supplies, and computers. Private
and Charter schools must be an option if the public school system fails a student. Right to Keep and Bear Arms Jack has an A+ rating with the NRA and the NRA trusted
Jack to carry their top legislative bill in 2005. The
NRA President, Sandy Froman has thanked and congratulated Jack in fostering through the
toughest bill to pass the legislature on behalf of Second-Amendment rights. Jack's current opponent has gone public with his
opposition to NRA issues. Less traffic congestion Jack supports spending budget surpluses on accelerating
freeway construction. Jack opposed spending
$2.3 billion on light rail when our freeways are behind.
